Krispy Kreme Donuts
$23.40

per dozen (glazed)

In California, Krispy Kreme outlets were standalone shops which produced their donuts on a conveyer belt process that was completely visible to the consumers. You could literally follow the automated production line from the dough being cut, baked, cooked, and then glazed at the end. They also let you have a sample donut fresh off the belt, so you could eat the same donut you followed throughout the process.

When Krispy Kreme opened in Singapore there were huge lines, and I won't deny having waited an hour for a box of donuts. These are still my favorite donuts - I love how fresh and fluffy they are - though perhaps the inability to eat them straight off the belt or the Singapore weather makes me a tad less crazy about them nowadays.

  • Nomnomnom. Whenever I see a Krispy Kreme, I know I've got to get myself one, or many. Its probably a good thing that they don't have KK in Hong Kong!

  • Love the original glaze. Very strange that in Singapore, they don't give out free donuts like how they do overseas (i've been to outlets in US, Australia, Hong Kong, Korea & Dubai). Not that I am a scrooge, but sometimes I just stand around the counter and they will be giving out free full-sized original glazed (best ever) for the people who are standing around. I would be more enticed to buy more if that happened to me!

  • When I was younger I loved Krispy Kreme in the 'states, perhaps due to the standalone shops with the conveyer belt which you could track your donut being made from a ball of dough to getting glazed and then eating that exact one hot off the press. Now that it is available in Singapore, it is still good but isn't the dream dessert it once was. I'll still have a couple donuts without hesitation, but probably won't have 6 at a time anymore :)
