Great Food around Golden Mile Complex

Great Food around Golden Mile Complex

There are loads of great places to eat around my office at Golden Mile Complex. These are some of the venues that I enjoy the most.

  • Salads @ SunMoon

While not the best salad shop in Singapore that I've been to, you'll struggle to find another that provides better value. This is a no frills venue which is extremely popular and they also offer some good fresh fruit tubs should you be on a real health kick.

  • Vietnamese Beef Noodles @ Mrs. Pho

My favourite quick lunch venue in this area. Mrs Pho is a great little Vietnamese restaurant which has real authenticity. Love the healthy and light nature of their dishes alongside the buzzing atmosphere of this place.

  • Thai Food @ Golden Mile Complex

I never really ate Thai food that often in the past, but having such great choices just under my office has converted me to a big fan! The consensus favorite amongst my friends is Diandin Luluk, with our typical dishes being the green/red curry chicken ($12), pineapple rice ($12), tom yum soup ($12), and mango sticky rice ($6). Beware the food coma after stuffing yourself with all the delicious and flavorful food!

  • Hawker Stalls @ Golden Mile Food Centre

There is a little mini-hawker centre right next to the main 2-storey one, which houses a couple of stalls in a less crowded and hectic environment. One of these is an economical rice stall which always has my favorite dishes such as fish, crispy chicken, tofu, and leafy veggies. The food is always great, the servings are generous, and the price only runs about $4.50 - $5.50 depending on what you order.

  • Salads @ SunMoon

When I am in the need for something quick, light, or healthy (relatively speaking, as you can tell from my choice of toppings), SunMoon is always at the top of my mind. The $5.40 price point is unbeatable for a good salad with quality ingredients - being a fresh fruits company helps to ensure this. They are quite generous with the servings as well. Absolutely a top-tier value lunch option!

  • Vietnamese Beef Noodles @ Mrs. Pho

A lot of friends in the area frequently suggest lunch at Mrs. Pho, and for good reason - the pho here is excellent. You can get a fantastic bowl of pho and a unique drink for about $10, which will satisfy you just the right amount without making you feel bloated after lunch. The soup is light yet flavorful with a few condiments you can add if you need an extra bit of punch. My usual order is the special beef combo noodle soup ($8.90) with a homemade yogurt drink ($2).

  • Shawarma @ House of Kebab

Love coming to House of Kebab for a Friday treat. All of the meats are quite good, though the lamb sticks out as the best in my opinion - just the right mix of crispy, flavorful, and meaty. The meal at $12.90 with fries and a soda is a nice deal relative to similar options in the area. All around a great lunch in a very casual setting, though you may want to arrive before noon or after 1:00 / 1:30 PM to avoid a long line!

  • Shawarma @ House of Kebab

Not often that you stumble across a good kebab shop in Singapore and this is one of the best that I've had. I recommend adding the hummus filling to the lamb shawarma.

  • Sandwiches & Salads @ The Hangar

The Lemongrass Steak sandwich ($12, or upsize to $16 as in the photo) was much better than I expected. This is some real quality beef with seriously awesome texture, not the sliced ham or roast beef crap you get from the likes of Subway. The bread was nice and crispy too.

The food, drinks, and especially staff at The Hangar are great. Would definitely give it 5 stars if not for the price, which seems to be a touch on the higher side (though to be fair, you're paying for quality).

  • Indian Food @ Yummy Punjaby

I've been looking for a good Indian option in the area for about 6 months, so it was very exciting to hear about Yummy Punjaby just a few minutes away. The setting is very unassuming and casual, with no air conditioning though the open concept keeps it from feeling stuffy. The food is definitely good and value for money, with the Thursday butter chicken meal being a clear winner to me. They were also generous with the naan and rice. Will need to come back and try the other choices.

  • Aston's Specialties

I know Aston's isn't anything new or special, but sometimes you have a craving for a decent steak that is somewhere between a hawker centre and a fine dining establishment, and Aston's scratches that itch very well. The Prime Ribeye meal ($17.90 w/ 2 sides) was obviously not as great as higher end establishments, but for the price was quite satisfying and noticeably better than hawker fare. Cheaper meals options (e.g. fish or chicken) are also available in the $10 range.

  • Hawker Stalls @ Golden Mile Food Centre

The western food stall in the middle of the 2nd floor is quite good (the one closer to the CBD, as there are 2 right across from each other). Roughly $6-8 depending on what you order, the lamb and chicken are both good.

  • Berg's Burger

I eat here probably once every 2 weeks or so. The burgers here are big, fresh, and satisfying, but something about the meat texture feels a bit more rubbery than it does juicy. Nevertheless, these are one of the better gourmet burgers in Singapore and I always enjoy having a meal here.

  • Salads @ SunMoon

You can also buy bowls of fresh cut fruits for $2.50 to $3.00

  • Sandwiches & Salads @ The Hangar

The Strawberry Fields milkshake ($10) is a great breakfast substitute with fresh strawberries, granola, bananas, and honey. The flavor is excellent and it's worth the price: basically an awesome meal-in-a-cup.

  • Indian Food @ Yummy Punjaby

Top up $2 for a mango lassi that has just the right amount of thickness and sweetness. Will definitely get it again!

  • Aston's Specialties

I'd highly recommend the root beer floats ($3.90) as a nice drink to enjoy with your meal.

  • Aston's Specialties

The fried fish & chips meal ($10.50) wasn't what I was hoping for (was craving more of a crispy beer battered fish & chips style).

  • Thai Food @ Golden Mile Complex

The individual sets are a great value at $5-6, and include a good amount of both rice and meat to make for a fulfilling meal. The garlic pork (pictured), diced basil pork/chicken/beef, and green curry chicken fried rice are my favorites.

  • Thai Food @ Golden Mile Complex

I love mango sticky rice, and both Diandian Leluk and Beerthai offer a great rendition of it for about $6.
