England's finest country pubs

England's finest country pubs

A carefully selected group of pubs worthy of world class status because they exhibit important and unique characteristics: Glorious setting, high quality ale, steeped in history and no fruit machines or recorded music (many will have no mobile reception too).

Stunning location and a big favourite of mine. I would happily fly all the way from Singapore for their English Breakfast alone!

  • The Warren House Inn, Dartmoor

The fire was still burning when we dropped by back in the summer of 2004! Set in a stunning location on Dartmoor and well worth going out of your way to visit.

  • The Bridge Inn, Topsham

Love the quaint and rustic interior of this pub. The pickled eggs are a must try. They look like they might have been fermenting in their jar for the past 100 years but that just adds to the allure! Well washed down with a pint of the local ale.
