  • [EXPIRED] UOB Preferred Platinum AMEX

@nicolajtroup Thanks for the heads up! I've updated the info to include that it has been discontinued as of October 1, 2015. Looks like the existing cardholders can continue to use it and get the miles though, so good thing you got it in time :)

  • UOB PRVI Miles MasterCard / AMEX

These are decent cards but not nearly as attractive nowadays with the plethora of 4 mile / S$ options on the market. The UOB PRVI Miles cards offer you simplicity in being general use cards that require little thinking, but you pay a hefty price of losing out on almost 3x the miles by not using the best cards for each type of spending. That said, they do have some utility in filling in certain gaps that other cards can't earn 4 miles / S$, such as very very large overseas purchases (non-dining).

  • UOB PRVI Miles MasterCard / AMEX

Update: UOB has changed the earning rate of this card to 1.4 miles / S$ locally and 2.4 miles / S$ overseas - down from 1.6 and 2.5, respectively. They've also added 3 miles / S$ on Singapore AIrlines, SilkAir, and KrisShop spending.

  • UOB Preferred Platinum Visa

This was once a much better card but has since been riddled with all sorts of exclusions and restrictions on its ability to earn 4 miles / S$. If you online shop regularly then this card can still be useful, but be prepared to invest time learning the T&Cs and keeping track of spending to stay under $12k SGD per calendar year.

  • DBS Woman's World MasterCard

Used in conjunction with prepaid cards, this is my most consistent spending every month. While not the most amazing card on its own due to being limited to $2k and online purchases - the flexibility it offers via prepaid top ups is truly liberating.

When people don't want to bother with having a ton of cards and remembering how/when to use each, I always recommend this one (plus a prepaid) as the simplest solution while still getting 4 miles / S$.

  • Prepaid Credit Cards (IMAGINE, FEVO, M1)

An absolute must for the min-maxer, the convenience these cards enable when used with other cards is great. Use it to handle those small bills (e.g. $4.99, $9.99) where other cards round down to the nearest $5 for mileage. Top it up to 'spend' an exact amount of money within a certain timeframe for another card's promotion. And lastly, invaluable as a filler card for transactions that couldn't earn 4 miles / S$ otherwise.

Doubles as an EZ-Link card that you can personalize as well.

  • Citibank Rewards Card

Best to do your research on the shop before you use this card. A lot of shops seem to be selling clothes/ fashion related items but aren't registered as a store that sells clothes, shoes and bags as its main business activity. Hence, you won't get the 4miles/ $. Learnt that the hard way...

  • [EXPIRED] UOB Preferred Platinum AMEX

IMHO the best card to use on a sustained basis given that dining & drinks account for the bulk of most people's spending coupled with there being no limit on the 4 miles / S$ earn rate.

Pros: No limit to the number of miles I can earn per month, which is great! Cons: There is a handful of restaurants in Singapore that still don't take Amex. Overall, it’s great card for me especially because I spend quite a bit each month on wining and dining my clients. So if a large bulk of your monthly expenses goes to F&B, I’d say go for this card for sure!
