This tofu dish was awesome! The shell isn't crispy but provided a bit of welcome shape and resistance to the soft innards. This is very useful when dipping it into the buttery sauce that comes with it, which is the real attraction here. I believe it is very similar if not the same as the sauce that the butter crab comes in.

The bacon canapés ($12 for 9 pieces) are an awesome treat. Think slightly thicker parma-ham with mayonnaise on a cracker. It doesn't really compliment the whiskey in my opinion, but who cares! Probably my most regularly ordered dish here.

A few years ago I may have rated this much lower, but as you get older you find much more appreciation for great service, a casual yet classy setting, ambience that isn't too quiet nor loud, and of course, fine whiskies. Don't come here to pick up chicks or show off your big spending habits, but if you want an excellent place to chill with your friends and have real conversations, this is for you. Food is also very good. Overall not light on your wallet, but you get what you pay for.

Xixi got me a box of the Bitter Nama Chocolates last night so I could try something new. Turned out to be a lot better than I thought - the great texture and overall taste of the champagnes is still there, just the initial cocoa powder and slight aftertaste is a tad more bitter (as expected). Overall, surprisingly good considering I don't really like bitter nor dark chocolate.

Had the craving for some tiramisu and it was just as good (even a bit better, actually) than the preview I had previously. All my praises still stand - this is a wickedly good dessert!

@rachel
You can get it in 7-11 or grocery stores. The ones I like are the first 2 results here:

Have you tried the Taiwanese noodles with the real beef inside? They have them in HK as well, super awesome!

You can add cheese, as well as various other toppings, to your rosti for a little extra flavor (and cost). I usually go with just plain, cheese, or smoked salmon - all with a generous dose of sour cream of course.

The baby kai lan doesn't look like much, but it balances out the spicy dishes very well. I always need to order a second serving.

@steffdarling - ooh I do like Ben & Jerry's Chocolate Fudge Brownie, but I think the Chocolate Devotion at Cold Stone is a bit 'stickier' in texture which I like. But its like saying one is amazing and the other is amazing plus 1 - both are great! Will try out the others!

When I was younger I loved Krispy Kreme in the 'states, perhaps due to the standalone shops with the conveyer belt which you could track your donut being made from a ball of dough to getting glazed and then eating that exact one hot off the press. Now that it is available in Singapore, it is still good but isn't the dream dessert it once was. I'll still have a couple donuts without hesitation, but probably won't have 6 at a time anymore :)

Skipped the auctions as you did and just showed up for the food - highly recommend Sushi Dai if you get the chance in the future!

Snake soup - yes, snake. Despite my attempts at avoiding this dish, peer pressure prevailed and quite surprisingly I enjoyed the dish. Doesn't taste any different than similar looking soups, and is apparently quite good for you.

Highly recommend the truffle fried taro - its like a chinese rendition of truffle fries, with some sort of sweet sauce. We cleaned this plate out super fast.

The wagyu shabu shabu here was a crazy good quality, especially given the extremely reasonable price of $228 HKD for the Japanese Supreme Wagyu set. Add on the $20 HKD free flow of beer & cider, and you're in for an amazing meal.
I'd suggest trying both Austrlian and Japanese Wagyu early on to see which you prefer - the marbling on the Japanese meat may be a bit rich for some.

Free flow Asahi beer & Somersby apple cider for $20 HKD. About the most awesome add-on there is.

Who doesn't love Tsui Wah? My usual is the crispy condensed milk buns, Malaysian beef brisket curry, and a champagne milk tea. A+ food and value!

Steak sandwich at $16 was much better than I expected. This is some quality beef with seriously awesome texture, not the sliced ham or roast beef crap you get from the likes of Subway. The bread was nice and crispy too.
