  • db Bistro & Oyster Bar in The Ultimate Guide to Burgers in Singapore

I also tried the Frenchie Burger ($27) whose confit pork belly topping had a strong smokey taste and felt a bit dry in texture. The underlying beef patty was good and the ingredients were fresh, however the burger didn't feel particularly special. Though the price is very fair given the venue, I'd rather top up for the Original db Burger and get a much more unique experience.

  • db Bistro & Oyster Bar in The Ultimate Guide to Burgers in Singapore

On my first bite into The Original db Burger ($42) the braised beef stuffing amazed me with its fantastic flavor and texture, complimenting the huge, juicy sirloin patty very well. However, while the foie gras filling contributed a lot to the cost, it's subtlety didn't add much to the taste. The burger is perfectly sized alongside a generous serving of crispy fries, which is appreciated in an upscale joint like this. All in, I think the burger is worth the premium and I'd gladly have it again.

  • OverEasy in The Ultimate Guide to Burgers in Singapore

Being a huge truffle fan, I tried out the Truffle Burger ($28) and of course upgraded to truffle fries ($2). The bun was just ok, being soft and non-toasted. The sauteed onions complimented the juicy and nicely cooked patty - which had good texture and flavor - making the burger messy yet fun to eat. The burger is medium-sized, its not food coma-inducing but gets you full enough alongside the fries. Overall a good meal, but wish the burger & fries were more truffle-ly to live up to the name.

  • Berg's Burger in The Ultimate Guide to Burgers in Singapore

Berg's Burger has a lot of interesting options for burger fanatics, though I typically stick with the Miss Piggy (bacon cheeseburger) with fries and a lemonade ($20 NETT). The burgers are large and will fill you up, though as you can see the patties aren't necessarily thick nor juicy. Maybe its just me but something about the meat texture makes it feel a bit rubbery/stringy, but thankfully its not dry nor tough either. Nevertheless, Berg's is a decent choice to satisfy your burger craving.

  • Omakase Burger in The Ultimate Guide to Burgers in Singapore

Omakase Burger is undoubtedly good for a fast-food style outlet - the fresh meat, cheese, lettuce, and bacon work well together to make a distinctive and enjoyable taste, though the burger itself is definitely on the small side. However, add on the cost of fries and a drink to the base $15-20 for the burger you quickly get into gourmet burger territory at $25+ per pax. At that price point, you can get much bigger, juicier, and higher quality burgers from the likes of Suprette or Black Swan.

  • The Black Swan in The Ultimate Guide to Burgers in Singapore

The mood and setting in The Black Swan is very Great Gatsby-esque (aka awesome) which makes for an ironic yet befitting home for a fantastic gourmet burger. The bun and ingredients are fresh and of high quality while the meat itself is very flavorful and juicy - sink your teeth into it and you'll see why the $30++ price point is justified. The burger as a whole was greatly satisfying, though unfortunately the fries weren't anything special.

  • Suprette in The Ultimate Guide to Burgers in Singapore

The Suprette Burger ($20++) starts with a toasted, buttery bun which immediately grabs your attention with its unique taste. I added bacon ($3) which was thick and generously served, and came topped with a healthy dose of melted gruyere cheese. The beef patty was thick, VERY juicy, and bursting with awesome flavors. The shoestring fries were quite good as a compliment, being just slightly crispy on the outside and soft within.

This is a definite must try for any burger lover in Singapore!

  • PS. Cafe in The Ultimate Guide to Burgers in Singapore

The PS Crispy Onion Burger isn't cheap at $29++. To make up for this, the burger is generously sized and comes with a HUGE portion of shoestring fries on the side (sadly, they aren't truffle fries). The meat is high quality and juicy, but I didn't get any unique taste or awesome flavors from it; the deep fried onion toppings didn't stand out either.

Overall, this is a solid burger that will definitely satisfy your cravings but isn't quite special enough to make it into your food fantasies.

  • Paradise Dynasty (乐天皇朝) in The Best La Zi Ji (辣子鸡) in Singapore

The cheesy xiao long bao ($9.80 for 6) is my favorite flavor as it really is quite cheesy. The black truffle version ($13.80 for 6) is a bit mushroomy and not really what I enjoy (I love truffle but dislike mushrooms), though I could see some people liking it.

The spinach is an excellent compliment to help take the edge off some of the more spicier dishes.

  • XiaoMi Mini Router in Stuff that I would introduce

Awesome router! Previously had a $30ish TP-Link 802.11g "300 Mbps" router in my office that was only giving me a max of 30 Mbps, but more like 5-6 Mbps more often than not.

Switching to the Xiaomi AC router immediately bumped that up to 55 Mbps down / 95 Mbps up, and cut the ping in half to 3ms (from 7-10 ms).

No gigabit ethernet but you won't find anything in this price range with the feature. Definitely an awesome AC router for the price, and looks sexy too!

  • Grilled Chilean Seabass in Singapore Airlines - Best Book the Cook Meals

@louannwong What country did you depart from when you tried it? Ex-Singapore has been consistently good for me though I'm sure they have off days. I do note though that every time I try it the preparation, presentation, and taste is a bit different (see my photos) so that could be an issue too.

Either way definitely try again and hopefully it'll be better - when on form this dish beats out anything I've tried in restaurants thus far!

  • Chocolate Lava Cake w/ Ice Cream in Fantastic Lava Cakes at Ngee Ann City

I'm a massive chocolate lava cake lover with a love for desserts, so of course I had to try the chocolate lava cake at Haha Thai. The texture, temperature, and ooze-factor was perfect and the coconut ice cream complimented the flavors well. I really enjoyed that the cake was warm and soft, compared to more and more establishments that have hard exteriors and lava that is almost solid by the time it is served. A bit less sweet than the Red Velvet version, which is just nice for my tastes!

  • Tom Yum Talay (Red or Clear Soup) in 5 Awesome Flavours of Tom Yum Soup at Orchard Road

Tried the Tom Yum Talay in red soup the other day and everyone in the group liked it. The soup isn't as spicy or sharp as some of the more hardcore options in places like the Golden Mile, which is a good thing for most people as many aren't able to fully finish or enjoy that level of spice. Can't comment on the seafood as I don't like prawns, squid, or mussels - my fault for ordering I know, but really wanted to try the red soup. Overall a good choice to start off your meal.

  • UOB PRVI Miles MasterCard / AMEX in Best Credit Cards for Airline Miles in Singapore

These are decent cards but not nearly as attractive nowadays with the plethora of 4 mile / S$ options on the market. The UOB PRVI Miles cards offer you simplicity in being general use cards that require little thinking, but you pay a hefty price of losing out on almost 3x the miles by not using the best cards for each type of spending. That said, they do have some utility in filling in certain gaps that other cards can't earn 4 miles / S$, such as very very large overseas purchases (non-dining).

Update: UOB has changed the earning rate of this card to 1.4 miles / S$ locally and 2.4 miles / S$ overseas - down from 1.6 and 2.5, respectively. They've also added 3 miles / S$ on Singapore AIrlines, SilkAir, and KrisShop spending.

  • Sandwiches & Salads @ The Hangar in Great Food around Golden Mile Complex

The Lemongrass Steak sandwich ($12, or upsize to $16 as in the photo) was much better than I expected. This is some real quality beef with seriously awesome texture, not the sliced ham or roast beef crap you get from the likes of Subway. The bread was nice and crispy too.

The food, drinks, and especially staff at The Hangar are great. Would definitely give it 5 stars if not for the price, which seems to be a touch on the higher side (though to be fair, you're paying for quality).

The Strawberry Fields milkshake ($10) is a great breakfast substitute with fresh strawberries, granola, bananas, and honey. The flavor is excellent and it's worth the price: basically an awesome meal-in-a-cup.
