  • Roosevelt’s Diner & Bar in The Ultimate Guide to Burgers in Singapore

I had the Candied Bacon Beef Burger ($20) which had a soft patty with a subtle beef taste. This went perfectly with the ingredients, as the toppings added a TON of savoury flavors between the caramelized onions, sugary candied bacon, and mayo. Rounded out with the cheese and tomato, the overall taste was both unique and delicious. The bun was soft and light, with a spongy texture and light buttery taste, while the shoestring fries were perfectly crispy and tasty.

  • Hubbers Facebook Group in How to find Interns in Singapore

I went to the Facebook group looking to get referrals to interns, but ended up meeting someone who became my co-founder. Am really glad I didn't corner myself into an 'internship/jobs' site since I got so much more out of the process. Plus, I got a bunch of cool feedback and potential partnerships as a result of letting people know about what I'm doing.

Hint: post here even if you're not looking for interns, you never know what you'll get!

  • HubPortal in How to find Programmers in Singapore

What better place to look for talent than within our own community! I searched HubPortal and found a few developers that were interested in helping out other startups, and guess what - 2 of them were no more than a few seats away! We were able to catch up and start working immediately.

  • Fiverr in How to find Programmers in Singapore

I spent a few hours trying to make (seemingly) simple tweaks to my Wordpress blog template and decided to try out Fiverr. The ratings & reviews were really useful to choose freelancers, and I got a response within an hour! The guy was really skilled and fast and I had the option paying an extra $5 to get it done within 24 hours (instead of 3 days). So $10 total to fix everything I wanted within the same day - a really good deal!

  • Carvers & Co in The Ultimate Guide to Burgers in Singapore

I had The General burger ($25) which had a thick, dense bun with a very tasty buttery flavor. The patty was thick with great texture and doneness, though the flavor deferred to the toppings. The cheese was quite strong in taste and salty alongside the bacon - something I really enjoyed (I like my food salty). The caramelized onions were good but not strong enough to overcome the saltiness. The tangy sauce on the side offered a unique twist and the fries were crispy & very good! Loved the meal :)

  • StartUp: The Podcast in Stuff Startup Founders Need

This was my first podcast and still the best series thus far. Getting a real insiders look into the conversations, issues, and decisions founders face was very useful as well as comforting (many of us face similar dilemmas). I loved that they didn't shy away from or hide the very intimate details - the equity discussion in particular is a huge example of something everyone wants to know about but no one shares.

  • Google Analytics in Stuff Startup Founders Need

Google Analytics is AMAZING! It is the only tab that has a dedicated portion of my screen 24/7. Real time analysis of active users and what pages they're on, historical data on viewership and metrics, analytics of where your users are coming from (e.g. Facebook, Google search, a forum link), and a bunch of other uber helpful things I probably haven't even discovered yet.

If you have a website then you 100% must have Google Analytics set up for it.

  • Spicy Crayfish @ Xie Lao Song (蟹老宋) in My Favorite Food in Singapore

Xixi and I both love the Xiao Long Xia (spicy crayfish) here ($26 for a small plate, $35+ or so for large). The flavor is awesome and the meat is good.

Also very fun cause you eat with your hands with see through gloves. I recommend doubling up with 2 gloves on each hand cause they may tear through one layer.

  • The Assembly Ground in The Ultimate Guide to Burgers in Singapore

The Assembly Wagyu Burger ($24.50) has a large, very soft & fluffy bun. The patty is VERY tender (almost melt-in-your-mouth) with great texture and juiciness. The beef taste is quite subtle which allows the flavor from the cheese and caramelized onions to shine through with the arugula and tomato adding depth as well. I loved that the flavors were distinct but not overly aggressive, making for a delicious burger overall. The seasoned fries weren't crispy but still very tasty and enjoyable.

  • Strangers' Reunion in The Ultimate Guide to Eggs Benedict in Singapore

I always opt for the smoked salmon version of Eggs Benedict whenever I have brunch and I can confidently say that this has been the best I've tried in Singapore. The hazelnut bernaise sauce is sweet and gives a very unique flavor to the dish, which is further complimented by the cheese and smoked salmon. The mixture of ingredients and tastes is excellent and nothing like other dishes I've tried - if you love Eggs Benedict you have to try these at Strangers' Reunion!

  • Suprette in The Ultimate Guide to Burgers in Singapore

The Suprette Burger ($20++) starts with a toasted, buttery bun which immediately grabs your attention with its unique taste. I added bacon ($3) which was thick and generously served, and came topped with a healthy dose of melted gruyere cheese. The beef patty was thick, VERY juicy, and bursting with awesome flavors. The shoestring fries were quite good as a compliment, being just slightly crispy on the outside and soft within.

This is a definite must try for any burger lover in Singapore!

  • XiaoMi Mini Router in Stuff that I would introduce

Awesome router! Previously had a $30ish TP-Link 802.11g "300 Mbps" router in my office that was only giving me a max of 30 Mbps, but more like 5-6 Mbps more often than not.

Switching to the Xiaomi AC router immediately bumped that up to 55 Mbps down / 95 Mbps up, and cut the ping in half to 3ms (from 7-10 ms).

No gigabit ethernet but you won't find anything in this price range with the feature. Definitely an awesome AC router for the price, and looks sexy too!

  • Chocolate Lava Cake w/ Ice Cream in Fantastic Lava Cakes at Ngee Ann City

I'm a massive chocolate lava cake lover with a love for desserts, so of course I had to try the chocolate lava cake at Haha Thai. The texture, temperature, and ooze-factor was perfect and the coconut ice cream complimented the flavors well. I really enjoyed that the cake was warm and soft, compared to more and more establishments that have hard exteriors and lava that is almost solid by the time it is served. A bit less sweet than the Red Velvet version, which is just nice for my tastes!

  • Thai Food @ Golden Mile Complex in Great Food around Golden Mile Complex

I never really ate Thai food that often in the past, but having such great choices just under my office has converted me to a big fan! The consensus favorite amongst my friends is Diandin Luluk, with our typical dishes being the green/red curry chicken ($12), pineapple rice ($12), tom yum soup ($12), and mango sticky rice ($6). Beware the food coma after stuffing yourself with all the delicious and flavorful food!

  • Hawker Stalls @ Golden Mile Food Centre in Great Food around Golden Mile Complex

There is a little mini-hawker centre right next to the main 2-storey one, which houses a couple of stalls in a less crowded and hectic environment. One of these is an economical rice stall which always has my favorite dishes such as fish, crispy chicken, tofu, and leafy veggies. The food is always great, the servings are generous, and the price only runs about $4.50 - $5.50 depending on what you order.

  • Salads @ SunMoon in Great Food around Golden Mile Complex

When I am in the need for something quick, light, or healthy (relatively speaking, as you can tell from my choice of toppings), SunMoon is always at the top of my mind. The $5.40 price point is unbeatable for a good salad with quality ingredients - being a fresh fruits company helps to ensure this. They are quite generous with the servings as well. Absolutely a top-tier value lunch option!

  • Vietnamese Beef Noodles @ Mrs. Pho in Great Food around Golden Mile Complex

A lot of friends in the area frequently suggest lunch at Mrs. Pho, and for good reason - the pho here is excellent. You can get a fantastic bowl of pho and a unique drink for about $10, which will satisfy you just the right amount without making you feel bloated after lunch. The soup is light yet flavorful with a few condiments you can add if you need an extra bit of punch. My usual order is the special beef combo noodle soup ($8.90) with a homemade yogurt drink ($2).

  • Shawarma @ House of Kebab in Great Food around Golden Mile Complex

Love coming to House of Kebab for a Friday treat. All of the meats are quite good, though the lamb sticks out as the best in my opinion - just the right mix of crispy, flavorful, and meaty. The meal at $12.90 with fries and a soda is a nice deal relative to similar options in the area. All around a great lunch in a very casual setting, though you may want to arrive before noon or after 1:00 / 1:30 PM to avoid a long line!
